The Jubaland administration leader and head of the Ras Kamboni Brigade, Sheikh Ahmed Islam also known as Sheikh Madobe, narrowly escaped death. Suspected al Shabaab militia detonated a bomb close to his convoy in Kismayu on Thursday evening. Madobe, who fought alongside Somalia National Army and Amisom troops to dislodge the al Shabaab from Kismayu, was returning from a trip to Mogadishu.

Four more International Criminal Court witnesses lined up to testify against Deputy President William Ruto and radio presenter Joshua Sang have withdrawn their testimonies only a day before the prosecution presents witnesses at The Hague.The hearing was adjourned last week after prosecution witnesses failed to show up in court.
