The U.S. Department of the Treasury today sanctioned the former President of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh, and two military commanders affiliated with the Huthi group, Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim and Abd al-Khaliq al-Huthi, pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13611 for engaging in acts that directly or indirectly threaten the peace, security, or stability of Yemen.

This weekend, I will be in San Salvador to honor the lives and work of six Jesuit priests, their housekeeper and her daughter. They worked at the University of Central America (UCA) and they were murdered 25 years ago, on November 16, 1989, in a coordinated operation of the Salvadoran military by members of the Atlacatl Battalion.

The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Republic of Korea for Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) missiles and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $1.405 billion. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
