There still seems to be misperception that this laboratory is a military facility or is engaged in biological weapons research which is absurd. The laboratory is now managed by the Georgian Government.

All I can tell is that the defense in this case has access to the report and because this is an on-going legal proceeding it will not be appropriate for me comment on the contents of the report or how it will be used in a legal case.

I am not going to comment on the structure of the Georgian presidential debates other than to say that we look forward to healthy debate, and I am sure it will be very interesting.

I know that this is a matter that is before the Georgian Parliament right now and I don’t have a particular recommendation to make. I am sure that a fair and equitable solution will be arrived at.

I don’t think anything justifies the illegal occupation of sovereign territory and our focus is on working with Russia, Georgia, and the de facto authorities to try to negotiate a reasonable settlement and a better future for this region.

For the last twenty plus years the United States has supported maritime security in the Black Sea. We have supported bilateral defense cooperation with Georgian armed forces. That process is going to continue.

I believe the idea of a political level commission was examined in Georgia some months ago and the decision was made not to do that. But there's going to be a military-technical review led by the Ministry of Defense.
