While we have made remarkable strides against the threat of catastrophic attacks like that which we experienced on 9/11, the continued presence of al Qa’ida in Yemen, the
growing presence of al Qa’ida‐associated elements in North Africa and Syria, and increased instability across North Africa and the Middle East highlight how the threat
of terrorism continues.
