The US government has revealed basing and unit plans for the Royal Saudi Air Force's (RSAF's) Boeing F-15SA (Saudi Advanced) Eagle fleet ahead of the commencement of deliveries. The details were disclosed in early August in a Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) request for information (RfI) for F-15SA support that will run from March 2017 until March 2021.

The Egyptian Navy has commissioned into service the R-32 Molniya class missile corvette Ahmed Fadel, after its crew returned from training in Russia. The vessel was donated by Russia last year. The Egyptian Ministry of Defence announced on 4 August that the vessel was commissioned at the Egyptian Navy base in Alexandria.

After more than a decade of discussions, the Israeli Navy is in contract negotiations with the US Navy to purchase 76mm rapid-fire guns from Italian defense contractor Oto Melara, a subsidiary of Leonardo-Finmeccanica. The estimated $100 million foreign military sale will be financed through US military aid and delivered via the US Navy from the Italian firm’s North American facility based in Largo, Florida.

In the United States, the Navy has already made the F-35 serviceable and announced its Initial Operating Capability status. The US Air Force will reach this same milestone in the near future.

The first shipment from Morocco’s order of 220 M1 Abrams battle tanks arrived in Morocco on Sunday. According to the American Defense Security and Cooperation Agency, negotiations between the Kingdom and the United States for the tanks began in 2012. Morocco planned to purchase 200 Abrams tanks, complete with parts, equipment, support, and training, for over $1 billion.

The desert-based shipyard of state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will soon deliver three new Super Dvora Mk3 fast patrol craft to the Israel Navy, a Navy officer told Defense News on Wednesday. The first of the three vessels, purchased from IAI’s Beersheba-based Ramta Division in September 2013, arrived at the Navy’s Mediterranean base in Ashdod last month and is now undergoing acceptance trials.
