The US continues to provide military support and equipment to Mexico in order to help combat its drug cartels. Unfortunately, all is not what it seems. As Jesse Franzblau reminds us, some of the aid has gone to rights-violating security units and even fallen into the hands of the cartels.

Dozens of Polish lawmakers participated in military exercises on Tuesday, a mainly symbolic act as Poles grow nervous about the conflict next door in Ukraine and Russia's involvement in it. The lawmakers, most of whom have never served in the military, practiced shooting weapons at a firing range, throwing fake grenades, crawling across the ground and learning elements of self-defense.
