From March - August 2016, U.S. military personnel will deploy to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala to conduct humanitarian and civic assistance exercises. As part of the Beyond the Horizon & New Horizons exercise programs, troops specializing in engineering, construction and health care will provide services to communities while conducting valuable deployment training and building important relationships with partner nations.English

The Medical Element of U.S. Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM) Joint Task Force Bravo (JTF-Bravo) helped provide health services to the civilian population in Honduras by participating in a Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) in collaboration with the Honduran Army, Honduras's Ministry of Health and the Red Cross in the department of Cortés. The MEDRETE, which took place February 18th-19th, is part of SOUTHCOM's commitment to support its Central American partner nations.English

Ukraine faces a mounting challenge from the East while suffering from a fundamental security vacuum. The country is not embedded in international organizations able to help Kyiv secure the Ukrainian state’s territorial integrity and political sovereignty. What other options than the distant prospect of NATO membership does Ukraine have to fill this vacuum today?
