The US State Department has approved the sale of nearly $1.8 billion in arms sales and support to four foreign countries, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Kenya. If approved by Congress, about half of those sales will be managed by the Redstone Arsenal-based US Army Security Assistance Command.

Major General Stephen Farmen commands the US Army Security Assistance Command, which manages more than $170 billion in foreign military sales and support. In 2016 the command had more than $14 billion in new business and anticipates more than $16 billion in 2017. But as General Farmen said "its not about the dollars, it's about the effects."
