Ambassador Kubiske attended the launch of the anti- human trafficking campaign led by the Inter Institutional Commission to Prevent Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons (CICESCT). She stated that human trafficking is a top priority of the United States, and that the USG supports Honduran efforts to counter this crime.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Michael Kozak, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Francisco Palmieri, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, Luis Arreaga, have arrived in Honduras to participate in a series of meetings with senior Honduran officials and civil society groups.

The United States is committed to working with the Honduran government to counter illicit trafficking and increase citizen security. To that end, U.S. Southern Command will continue to support Honduras Operation Morazan in the maritime and land domains and increase our efforts to reduce the amount of illicit trafficking into and around Honduras, and make the country and region less hospitable to transnational criminal networks.
