Chairman Royce Announces Consideration of Eight Foreign Affairs Measures

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced that the Committee will meet TOMORROW at 9:00 a.m. to consider: H.R. 2283, (Mr. Smith) To prioritize the fight against human trafficking within the Department of State according to congressional intent in the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 without increasing the size of the Federal Government, and for other purposes; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mr. Smith H.R. 4347, (Mr. Royce) To require the Secretary of State to provide an annual report to Congress regarding United States Government efforts to survey and secure the return, protection, and restoration of stolen, confiscated, or otherwise unreturned Christian properties in the Republic of Turkey and in those areas currently occupied by the Turkish military in northern Cyprus; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mr. Royce H.R. 4411, (Mr. Meadows) To prevent Hezbollah and associated entities from gaining access to international financial and other institutions, and for other purposes; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mr. Royce H.R. 4640, (Mr. Engel) To establish the Western Hemisphere Drug Policy Commission; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mr. Engel H.R. 4653, (Mr. Wolf) To reauthorize the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, and for other purposes; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mr. Smith H. Res. 435, (Mr. Deutch) Calling on the government of Iran to fulfill their promises of assistance in this case of Robert Levinson, one of the longest held United States civilians in our Nation's history; An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be offered by Mrs. Ros-Lehtinen H. Res. 562, (Mr. Pitts) Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives with respect to enhanced relations with the Republic of Moldova and support for Moldova's territorial integrity; and An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute is expected to be authored by Mr. Pitts H. Res. 588, (Mr. Peterson) Concerning the suspension of exit permit issuance by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo for adopted Congolese children seeking to depart the country with their adoptive parents.
