The House Committee on Armed Services heard testimoney from Vice Admiral Frank Pandolfe, Assistant Secretary of State Anne Patterson, and the Department of Defenese's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Elissa Slotkin. The witnesses made remarks and took questions on matters related to overall U.S. policy in the region, including nuclear negotiations with Iran, future relations with Egypt and security cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as elaborating on the U.S.' defense infrastrucutre in the Middle East.
A panel of outside experts addersses the current capacities and capabilities of Al Qaida and its affiliates throughout the Greater Middle East and North Africa.
